Requesting Services

PDF of Step by Step How to Request Services with Screenshots

Step 1. Go to myUCSC.

Step 2. Log in using your Cruz ID and Gold password.

Step 3. Select the "Request Services" tile on your home screen.

If you do not see the request services link on your student portal, please contact the DRC.

Step 4. Select the accommodations for each class you are enrolled in.

Academic Access Letters will NOT be generated for classes you are waitlisted for.

Step 5. Save to submit your request.

Your Academic Access (AA) letters will be sent to your UCSC email account as a secure link within 2-3 business days after you submit your request. If you do not receive your AA Letters within 2-3 business days, contact us

You must download and submit your AA Letters to your instructors, either in person or by email. Do not forward the link; instructors will not be able to access the letters through the link. To protect your privacy, only your UCSC email has been given access to view your letters.

If you choose to email your letters, we encourage you to use a clear subject line (e.g. DRC Letter for MATH 11A) to ensure the instructor can easily identify your accommodation information.
Accommodations take time to arrange, and they are generally not implemented until you submit your AA letters to your instructors. Please provide your AA Letters to your instructor as soon as possible. While instructors prefer to receive letters within the first two weeks of the quarter, they are required to accept AA letters submitted at a later date.

Review your letters before they are submitted to ensure the information is correct. If you need to make any changes to accommodations, update your request services selections on your MyUCSC portal.
Due to the volume of requests during the first two weeks of the quarter, AA Letters are generally provided within 4-5 business days from date of initial request. After the first two weeks, letters will be provided within 2-3 business days after you submit your request. If you do not receive your AA Letters within this timeframe, contact us.

We prioritize initial requests first, and then revision requests. While instructors prefer to receive letters within the first two weeks of the quarter, they are required to accept AA letters submitted at a later date.

Note: Access to "Request Services" will be given after you have met with a DRC Service Coordinator. It takes approximately 24 hours after your appointment to gain access to your "Request Services" page. If you still cannot see your Request Services page after a few days, please email your DRC service coordinator.

Once you receive your AA letters, you must submit your AA letters to your instructor to receive your accommodations. We encourage you to meet with your instructor during office hours to discuss your accommodations with your instructor.
