Inclusive Computing and Technology Lab

Resources available at the ICAT Lab include a variety of accessible software (e.g., text-to-speech, screen reading, dictation software), as well as adjustable standing desks. Printing is also available to all UCSC students. Technology Assistants are available in the ICAT to demo accessible software and answer questions about software and scanning.

Our three desktop computers are equipped with accessible software as well as Microsoft Office (word, powerpoint, spreadsheets). Our accessible software includes:

    • Kurzweil 3000
    • NaturalReader
    • Balabolka
    • Inspiration 9
    • Dragon Naturally Speaking
    • Read and Write Gold
    • Zoom Text

There is also a workstation located in 0337 McHenry Library with accessible technology available, and the software very closely represents what is available in the ICAT lab. Click here to reserve a slot in this room in McHenry.
