Message to DRC students regarding coronavirus and DRC services

 

We at the DRC felt it was important to send a message particularly tailored to the disability community because many of you have contacted us with questions. Some recommendations may adjust as conditions change. Students should continue to check the COVID-19 campus updates page for current COVID-19 procedures and guidelines.

 

DRC Operational Updates

  • All students and visitors are required to check in with reception staff. Students must show their E-Health Messenger "Green" badges, and visitors must complete the UCSC Visitor COVID-29 Symptom Check prior to entering the office. 
  • All DRC staff must complete a daily COVID-19 symptom check questionnaire to ensure that they are in compliance with campus guidance prior to reporting for work. 
  • In an email message shared by Chancellor Larive on March 15, 2022, it stated that "Effective April 10, masks will not be required for most indoor settings at UC Santa Cruz facilities, but their use will still be strongly recommended." The DRC office strongly recommends that high risk individuals, those that live with high risk individuals, or people who cannot be vaccinated accessing our office wear a facial covering, and coverings will be provided for those that do not have one.
  • The DRC staff is strongly encouraged to wear a facial covering while meeting with students and in common workspaces.
  • Equipment and common areas are frequently wiped down and disinfected after each use to minimize the spread of COVID-19. We encourage students and visitors to wipe down any equipment prior to using it with supplies provided by the office.
  • Students appointments are available by phone, virtually, or in person to speak with a Service Coordinator. In addition to checking E-Health Messenger badges for a "Green" status at reception, we highly encourage the use of facial coverings for in-person appointments, and masks will be provided for those that do not have one.

 

COVID-19 Statement and Resources

We know that COVID-19 can be more of a concern for individuals with disabilities than to the general population. With the current coronavirus situation, change is happening fast. Check out the links below for helpful information.

Slug Support Food Pantry

The Slug Support Pantry will remain open this week Tuesday 3/10-3/14, but will close for finals week and spring break.
