Getting Affiliated with the DRC

Incoming Freshman/Transfers

1. Submit your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR). If you have been admitted to the university and have decided UCSC is for you, submit your SIR (Frosh due May 1st; Transfers due June 1st).  To track your status, visit the student portal.

2. Apply for housing as soon as possible. Request any disability-related housing accommodations by the housing application deadline, using the Housing Accommodation Request Form

3. Make an appointment to see a DRC service coordinator. Call us at 831-459-2089 or come to our office at 125 Hahn Student Services.

4. You do not need documentation to make an appointment, but if you have documentation please submit it to our office as soon as possible or bring it with you to your appointment. In situations where documentation is insufficient, "provisional" accommodations can be provided pending adequate documentation.

5. Register and request placement exam accommodations for any needed placement exams. Some departments require a placement exam before enrolling in their courses. If you need accommodations for those exams, contact the DRC and the department sponsoring the exam at least 7 business days in advance of the exam date.

6. Come to Summer Campus Orientation. This is an excellent opportunity to check out the DRC table at the resource fair, familiarize yourself with campus resources, meet other new students, take placement exams, learn about your major from professors, and enroll for classes.
