- Notetaker contact information will be sent to you via e-mail should there be a hired Notetaker for the course(s) you have requested notetaking accommodations.
- Be sure to contact the Notetaker right away…notetaking services will not begin until you contact the Notetaker.
- Exchange full names, phone numbers and email addresses.
- Arrange a consistent time and place to pick up the notes.
e.g. the DRC, after class, DRC drop box, etc.
- You must pick up your notes regularly, at least once a week.
- If you drop the course(s) you have requested notetaking accommodations for, please notify the DRC and the Notetaker right away.
*Please note that Notetakers are not required to type their notes. If there is a disability related reason why you need your notes in an electronic format, please speak to your coordinator to receive approval for electronic notes.
Notetaker Recruitment:
If you are advised by DRC staff that a Notetaker has not yet been hired for your class we ask that you participate in a Notetaker recruitment. You will need to:
- Ask the professor to make an announcement in class without identifying you by name.
- Or/ You may choose to make the announcement yourself, then refer interested individuals to the DRC office to apply.
Announcements should include the following information:
- It is a paid position.
- Anyone interested needs to contact the DRC right away.
- The DRC hires only one Notetaker for each class.
Trouble Shooting:
If you are concerned about the timeliness and/or the quality of the note you are receiving: Talk to the notetaker directly about the problem.
If your concerns cannot be resolved directly, contact the DRC and let us know about the problem as soon as possible.
Please keep in mind that notetaking services are designed to supplement your class attendance, not to replace it.
